I love CFandM's comment "Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times!", but sometimes it's just the stupid operator but honestly, I really just want it as the plugin, does that make sense? I am wondering if there is a compatibility problem with Windows 11 or with Photoshop 2022 (or any updates for either of these). and I DID enable the plugin checkbox on the installation wizard. I actually have never used the Standalone version, I have always used it as the plugin for Photoshop. and the Standalone version opens and works, what I meant is that I am not able to get it to install or work as a plugin within Photoshop, which is where I am used to using FF.
I DID get it downloaded, installed and registered.
